This is my space of exploring mixed media. The joys, frustrations, achievements and fun that goes into the process of making art. Any ideas, thoughts, shared 'how to's' will be gratefully received and posted.
I have always wanted to draw, create and add color to my environment. My partly followed path has been in the taking of photos, portraits, weddings (from which I earned money), family etc., but I never attempted to put my own hand to paper, let alone make it. I have colored walls, colored my hair, worn colorful clothing but the thought of making a mark on paper has always been so daunting and overpowering that I have only had a nodding acquaintance with the medium. In the last twelve months I have worked at putting a muzzle on my inner critic (the voices suspiciously like my parents) and put pen on paper in the form of an art journal, needle to cloth - actually decorating clothes, ink to surface, with marbelling and making paper. I have let my creativity out. It hasn't always been easy, and opening a new page can be overwhelming and my mind screams at the nothingness with is an empty page. But I am loving it, and with practice and perseverance I have created art which I hope will continue to challenge and lead down many diverse and interesting paths.
